What religious sites have shaped the history of Los Angeles?

SurveyLA is looking for churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, convents, parochial schools, or any other place associated with religion and spirituality that sheds light on the history of Los Angeles. These sites do not necessarily need to be architecturally remarkable, although they might be. Maybe you know of a church that provides clues about the history of immigration to Los Angeles, or a temple that played a significant role during the Civil Rights Movement. Your place might also be the office of a religiously-affiliated charity or a parochial school that has made its mark on the City.

Instructions: Use the map above to zoom in and click on the location of the place. Then provide the name and information about why the place is important. Or you can click on “What’s Your Idea” and submit the name and location of the place and information about why it is significant. We are particularly interested in places that do not already have historic designations.
