We’re looking for places that help to tell the story of how people of Asian descent have shaped the history of Los Angeles. From Indonesia to Siberia and from Turkey to Japan, many nations in Asia have been the points of origin for people coming to make lives in Los Angeles. Asian-American Angelenos, from recent immigrants, to families with many generations of history here, have made their mark on our city in many ways. These impacts include architecture and art, L.A.’s many Asian-American enclaves (e.g. Koreatown, Historic Filipinotown, Little Tokyo and Chinatown), cuisine, language, faith, civil rights struggles and much more. The places you point out to SurveyLA might be remarkable for their design or for what they reveal about the lives, cultures, and social history of the people of Los Angeles.
