We’re looking for restaurants, neighborhood markets, drive-ins, food stands or any other place that has something to say about how food has shaped the history of Los Angeles. Perhaps you know of a local market that has been a beloved community anchor for decades. Maybe your place is a restaurant that has created an entirely new type of cuisine, been used for filming, or sits in an architecturally remarkable building. The way we eat has a lot to say about our culture and has helped to define Los Angeles as a unique place over the years.

Instructions: Use the map above to zoom in and click on the location of the place. Then provide the name and information about why the place is important. Or you can click on “What’s Your Idea” and submit the name and location of the place and information about why it is significant. We are particularly interested in places that do not already have historic designations.
